Feb 13, 2009
A Brazilian HDPE producer reported a lowering of prices by Reals 200/mt during the latter part of February.
The total reduction in prices on resins for this month has reached Reals 400/mt. "The reduction was implemented in order to level our prices with those currently being offered in the Brazilian market," said a source. With the reduction in price, HDPE was being quoted in medium volumes at Reals 4,000/mt CIF, for large quantities at Reals 3,900/mt CIF and small volumes at Reals 4,100/mt CIF injection and blow.
Special resin prices remained unchanged from last week and were heard at Reals 4,600/mt CIF. January sales were reported as 10% below expected volume for the entire month.
Export price on HDPE injection (special application) also retained the same price level. To Argentina, offers were at $1,800/mt CFR with freight valued at $120/mt, while the price to Bolivia stood at $1,950-2,000/mt CFR with freight at $200/mt.
